How the school actually works

Five minutes to understand the model — the teaching, the platform, the parent view, and the exam route. No hunting through the website.

🏫 The model: a real school, delivered online

The Academy's Online Private School provides structured full-time education for ages 5–18. Your child attends live classes on a fixed timetable, gets homework that's marked by a teacher, and progresses through a curriculum — exactly like a physical school, but without the commute, the class of 30, or the one-size-fits-all pace.

It is not a self-paced course platform. There is a timetable, there are teachers who know your child by name, and there is accountability.

👥 The classes: deliberately small

Every live class is capped at 10 students (8 for A-Level seminars). This is not a marketing rounding — it is the structural constraint the entire school is built around. Teachers mark every piece of work individually. They notice when understanding slips. They adapt.

📺 The lessons: live, then recorded

Lessons are taught live on Google Meet. Every one is recorded and available in the student's portal for the rest of their enrolment — so a missed day never means a gap in learning. Recordings are the safety net, not the replacement: attendance at live lessons is the expectation.

🧬 The practice: Synapse adaptive learning

Between lessons, students practise on Synapse, the Institute's adaptive platform. It adjusts question difficulty based on performance, tracks a Smart Score per skill, and uses spaced repetition — the most evidence-backed memory technique in learning science. Teachers see the same data parents do, so practice informs the next lesson.

📋 The parent view: live, not monthly

Parents get their own login with real-time visibility: attendance, homework completion, Synapse scores, teacher feedback, and progress reports. You see what the teachers see — not a summary at parents' evening, but the live picture.

A full 8:30–4:00 school day for GCSE/IGCSE. Younger stages have age-appropriate schedules with shorter blocks. The detailed timetable is available to enrolled families.

🎓 The exam route: precise, not vague

Students sit examinations as private candidates at external examination centres. The Academy handles teaching to specification, past-paper preparation, marking and predicted grades; the examination centre handles the sitting. We help families find and register with a suitable centre.

Precision matters: teaching the Pearson Edexcel specification does not mean we are an Edexcel examination centre or accredited school. We state this plainly. Full detail on our School Information page.

🛡️ Safeguarding: built in, not bolted on

Every teacher holds an enhanced DBS check dated within three years. Every lesson is recorded and retained. Parents have visibility of all activity. Concerns route directly to the Director. UK safeguarding standards apply throughout.
