What exactly is the Academy?
The Neurogenetics Academy is the education division of the Neurogenetics Institute — an institute built around understanding how each learner learns. Within the Academy, the Online Private School provides structured full-time education from KS1 through A-Level: live teaching in classes capped at 10 (8 at A-Level), recorded lessons, marked work, adaptive practice through Synapse, and parent reporting.
What ages and stages does it serve?

Which curriculum and examination boards?
Across KS1–KS3 the Academy teaches the UK national curriculum. At examination stages, teaching is aligned to published international specifications — principally Pearson Edexcel IGCSE at the GCSE/IGCSE stage, with A-Level provision in the sciences and mathematics. The Institute's Library also produces board-specific resources for Cambridge IGCSE and Oxford AQA International GCSE.
How do examinations actually work?
The Academy is an online school and is not itself an examination centre. Students are entered for examinations as private candidates through external examination centres. In practice:
- The Academy provides: the teaching, the specification coverage, past-paper preparation, marking and feedback, predicted-grade support, and guidance through the entry process.
- The examination centre provides: the actual examination sitting — registration, invigilation, certification — under the examination board's rules.
- Families can use a centre of their choosing (many exist across the UK and internationally), and the Academy supports the administration throughout.

What is the Academy's legal and regulatory position?
The Neurogenetics Institute operates as a UK-based online education provider. As an online school it is not registered on the English Register of Independent Schools, which applies to physical schools; we state that plainly rather than implying an inspection status we do not hold. The safeguards parents rely on here are concrete and published: DBS-checked teachers, recorded lessons, parent visibility of all activity, UK safeguarding standards, and named accountability — every concern routes directly to the Director.
Registered entity details and business information are provided to prospective families during admissions, and are available on request via contact. We do not publish claims of government accreditation, Ofsted registration, or examination-board accreditation — because none apply.
What does it cost — and what if it isn't right?
Full, current pricing is published on the Academy page by stage, with monthly and annual options — no hidden extras. Every family starts with a £10 live-class taster, credited in full against enrolment — so you judge the real thing, not a brochure. Cancellation terms are in the Terms of Service.
Who teaches, and how are they checked?
Every teacher holds a degree in their subject, a teaching qualification (QTS/PGCE or equivalent), an in-date enhanced DBS check, and a minimum of five years' classroom experience — then passes our four-stage selection and training before meeting a live class. Full detail on the Academic Team page.
